This project took the form of a talk given to fellow students at the Royal College of Art.

In August this year I went to Cuba for four weeks. Travelling in a country quite alien to my own I wanted to find a way of communicating some essence of how the people around me were living. I chose to collect photographs of five-pointed stars wherever I found them. I chose the star because it was such a commonly used symbol, as here on the Cuban flag, and I wanted to understand more about what it actually stood for and whether it always meant what it was intended to.
